He was first introduced in the first episode of Pokemon : Pokemon! I choose you!

Description:

Ash's main goal is to become a pokemon master. Ash began his journey when he was 10 years old. He was so eager to become a pokemon trainer he rushed to Professor Oak's lab but was too late. He wanted to pick Squirtle but it seemed it was already chosen so he ended up Pikachu. Starting off as a unskilled trainer he had trouble controlling his pokemon but through the assistance of his friends Misty and Brock he went all around kanto and earned his badges. Since then, Ash travels from region to region meeting new friends,new pokemon,and new journeys.

After returning back from Shinnoh, Ash embarked to a other journey to the land of Isshu.How Ash got to Isshu? Good question! He rode an airplane to Isshu with Oak and his mom. While at Isshu, Ash's Pikachu was struck by Zekrom's lighting making Pikachu unable to use his moves. At Isshu, he also meets the regions Professor,Araragi. While waiting for Pikachu's check up to be finished another trainer (also Ash's new rival) Shooti arrives to choose his starter pokemon. After Shooti chooses his starter pokemon him and Ash have a battle and Ash looses. After deciding he wants to travel Isshu he receives the Isshu pokeDex and leaves the Professor Araragi's lab. While traveling he meets a girl called Iris who mistaken her as a pokemon. he attempts to catch a Shikijika but fails but instead gets the regional flying bird,Mamepato. It also seems the Mijumaru from the lab followed Ash so Ash's decides to catch it. While at the battle club he finds a Pokabu and saves it so it goes to Ash and Ash's captures it.

I hate Ash, he doesn't win half his badges, they give them to him. Plus, he says his best friends are his pokemon, he leaves half of them in a ditch!
